Xbox Player Dies From Blood Clots After 12-Hour Marathons

According to reports, Chris Staniforth often played 12-hour marathons on his Xbox. A coroner said that there was a blood clot that formed in Staniforth’s leg that moved up to his lungs to cause a fatal pulmonary embolism. Deep vein thrombosis usually occurs among people who have to sit for a long period of time. Also known as travelers’ thrombosis or economy class syndrome, it is most commonly reported in people who have travelled long distances by aircraft and who are already at an increased risk of thrombosis. A deep venous thrombosis can lead to the fatal complication of pulmonary embolism.
Symptoms of deep vein thrombosis include swelling in the leg where the blood clot originates, followed by shortness of breath, chest pain and dizziness. Prevention consists of adequate hydration (drinking, abstaining from alcoholic beverages and caffeine), moving around and calf muscle exercises. Also, conducted on the deep vein thrombosis suggests the use of compression stockings.
Meanwhile, Xbox manufacturer Microsoft said that it encourages gamers to take breaks from playing.
