Watch Quadrantids Meteor Shower 2012 Peaking January 4

Part of the reason why it is not as popular as its ‘cousins’ is due to the short length of time the Quadrantids are visible. The meteor shower lasts only a few hours, so skywatchers have a narrower window of opportunity to spot them. This year, according to NASA, with the moon setting at around 3AM, watchers will only have about two hours of viewing time before dawn.
Like with other meteor showers, NASA suggests going somewhere relatively dark, away from the city lights. A farm or the countryside are the best areas. Keep your eyes roaming all areas of the sky to spot the meteors. Good luck!
