Coming in second was De La Sall University. The DLSU Pep Squad surprised everybody with their best finish yet at the UAAP Cheerdance Competition, and gave notice to other schools that they have finally arrived. No longer will the DLSU be one of the also-rans in the competition. Armed with a new coach, the DLSU Pep Squad surprised the Araneta crowd with the throws and crisp moves.
FEU came in third, though this was a surprise for this writer. Though the FEU Squad did an excellent job, it was nothing different from what we have seen from them and other schools in the past. The biggest disappointment this year was the non-podium finish of the UST Salinggawi Dance Troupe. Champoions for many years, UST was hoping to redeem themselves after losing their grip on the UAAP Cheerdance Competition. And it looked like they would, at least, make a podium finish. However, they judges did not think so.
A big day for the UP Pep Squad. Not only did they win the 2011 UAAP Cheerdance Competition, they also won the inaugural UAAP Cheerdance Group Stunt event and one of their cheer dancers also won as the event’s Samsung Stunner. Congratulations UP! (VIDEO CREDIT: YouTube)
