At first, the airline set out to hire only male and female flight attendants. But after receiving a number of applications from transgenders, PC Air decided to open its hiring to the ‘third sex.’ Four have been hired – Chayathisa Nakmai, Dissanai Chitpraphachin and Phuntakarn Sringern, and Ms. Nathatai Sukkaset.
Peter Chan, president of PC Air, predicts other airlines will follow their example. “Our society has changed — it’s evolution. I’m an pioneer, and I’m sure there will be (other) organisations following my idea. I think these people can have many careers, not just in the entertainment business, and many of them have a dream to be an air hostess. I just made their dream come true,” said Chan. “When it’s their dream job or the job they love, they can do it even better,” he added.
Many consider Thailand as the Asian capital of transgenders, if not the world’s. There are many ladyboys in the country, especially in Bangkok where the transgenders live and work. The country is considered a hub for transgender operations. (VIDEO CREDIT: YouTube)
