Smart NBA Weekend Tickets Now Available Online… From Scalpers

Ever since tickets went on sale, Pinoy basketball fans have flocked to buy them. And why not? It’s not everyday that NBA superstars like Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Derrick Rose et al come to the Philippines to play. For many Filipinos, this may be their only chance of watching these NBA stars play and they are willing to part with hard-earned cash for the rare opportunity. Ticketnet outlets have been deluged with calls about the tickets and soon, they were sold out.
But a few enterprising Pinoys have found a way to earn extra money take advantage of others from the event. Scalpers have started posting online ads for the much sought after tickets.
In one Smart NBA ticket ad posted on Sulit.com, lower box tickets originally sold for P3,800 are being offered to the highest bidder. The bidding price started at P12,000! That is highway robbery! Still, those with money to burn are snapping them up. The bid price is now at P13,200! Other tickets originally sold at P800, are being offered as high as P2,500 to P4,000.
Isn’t this illegal? Can’t the authorities stop this? I’m sure Manny V. Pangilinan won’t be happy to hear about this.
