The host for UAAP Season 75, the National University, made the announcement that the MOA Arena will not just host the opening ceremony but also the majority of the UAAP’s elimination round games, the Final Four and best-of-three championships. It’s welcome news for students who can go malling or watch a movie after watching a UAAP basketball game. It’s better news for SM Mall of Asia, which will benefit from the expected extra traffic, and income.
The Mall of Asia Arena in nearing completion. Being built in front of the SMX Convention Center, the MOA Arena is reportedly 85% complete. And with a bigger capacity than the Araneta Coliseum – the MOA Arena can reportedly accommodate 16-20 thousand, the Big Dome only 15,000 – it will surely attract more events, concerts in particular, where a bigger venue is more advantageous. And no doubt the marketing team of SM will work overtime to get these.
