Just like in Game 1 of the championship series, it was in the final quarter of the game that the result was decided. San Beda and San Sebastian again traded leads and baskets in the first three quarters of Game 2 before the Red Lions were able to get away from their rivals, all thanks to David Semerad who netted in points for his team including seven in the final quarter.
Main man Garvo Lanete was under the weather and back-up forward David Semerad stepped up to take his place. Semerad came up huge for the Red Lions, leading the scoring for the team including the vital go-ahead lay-up with 6:09 to go. Semerad scored San Beda’s last five points, capped by an inside basket with 53.6 seconds to play in the game for a 57-53 lead. Though San Sebastian was able to close the gap to 57-55, they failed to come up with the goods in the final seconds.
It was sweet victory for San Beda who didn’t have the luxury of a sweep like last year. (VIDEO CREDIT: YouTube)
