Philippines To Host Miss Universe 2012 in Manila?
That’s what it looked like as a search for details about next year’s pageant yields a Wikipedia page dedicated to the event. And in it was posted this entry: “Miss Universe 2012, the 61st anniversary of the Miss Universe is scheduled to take place in Ynares Center in Antipolo City, Philippines. Leila Lopes from Angola will crown her successor at the end of the event.”
But the said entry looked suspicious. After all, Wikipedia can be edited by anyone. Besides, no mention about such a big event has been made in local media. It should have been in the headlines already. Therefore, the said Wikipedia entry on the Philippines as the host of the next Miss Universe looked like a hoax.
A couple of hours later, it was proven to be a hoax. The same Wikipedia page was edited and now contains this entry: “Miss Universe 2012, will be the 61st Miss Universe pageant, host country and date for the final are yet to be announced. The current Miss Universe Leila Lopes from Angola will crown her successor.”
Easy come, easy go.
