The hero of the game for the Philippine Azkals was Joshua Berloya. The Azkals seemed destined to another sorry defeat but Joshua Berloya had other ideas. With time running out, Berloya scored back-to-back goals to lift the Philippine team over their opponents.
The Philippines took the early lead through Manny Ott, who scored a goal in the 7th minute. However, Laos’ Lamnao equalized the game with a goal of his own in the 38th minute. That was how it ended in the first half as each team jostled hard for control of the game.
After half-time, Laos scored another goal. This time, it was courtesy of Lamnao who broke away from his defenders in the 46th minute. That was how the score stood until the dying minutes of the match until Berloya scored his twin goals. The first of these came in at the 90th minute following a defense-splitting pass from Mark Hartmann. With the score tied, Berloya struck again, this time just before the whistle in the 93rd minute to leave the Laos team stunned. (VIDEO CREDIT: YouTube)
