Phil Younghusband opened the scoring for the Philippine tam in the 17th minute. His goal was followed by another, this time from his brother, James, in the 30th minute to put the Azkals 2-0 ahead at halftime.
In the second half, the Azkals picked up where they left off. Phil Younghusband, receiving a pass from a Dennis Cagara corner, scored his second goal in the 55th minute before Matthew Hartmann capped off an outstanding display with his first international goal.
It was a well-earned victory for the Philippine Azkals who displayed good ball handling and enjoyed the majority of possessions against their visiting foes. Their coach, Michael Weiss, later said he is happy with the performance of the team. It was an excellent result with most of the players contributing. But Weiss lamented how the team’s detractors continue with criticisms despite the Azkals’ good performance.
“I hope they also realize they [should] keep on supporting instead of putting negative mentalities on the team,” said Weiss.
Phil Younghusband dedicated the victory to his mom who died suddenly last month.

good sportmanship from Nepal team.Kinda rough playing from AZKALS and even yellow card to them coz of that..it’s not a friendly attitude in a friendly match as they will still play in Nepal in the bigger stadium and bigger play ground there next year.still to c the performance there..
