As always, Barangay Ginebra’s fans played an important role last night as they cheered on Nate Brumfield. The import, in turn, seemed inspired by the crowd. Brumfield’s output of points was the most by any player since Tony Washam of Purefoods scored 49 last year, and it was quite remarkable since Smart-Gilas consistently threw a bigger player at the Ginebra import.
In the next game, Talk N Text kept its grand slam hopes alive by beating Air 21 anew 114-96. Their import, Paul Harris, likewise was key to the game with his 29 points. The Tropang Texters, who are seeking a second straight title this season, held the Express to just 11 points in the first period to dictate the tone of the route.
