Pacquiao Mayweather Fight A Lost Cause After Floyd’s Incarceration?
According to sports analyst Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated, the previously schedule May 5 fight is a goner. Floyd Mayweather is expected to be released from jail in March or April and he will definitely not be able to fight that soon after release. Mayweather usually trains for eight weeks before a fight. Mannix said the first half of 2012 should be scratched from the Mayweather calendar. However, a fight against Pacquiao can be scheduled late in 2012.
Mannix said negotiations for the fight can start immediately after Floyd’s release from jail. “The most likely possibility that we see the fight would take place towards the end of 2012,” he said.
meanwhile, what about Manny Pacquiao? Now that Mayweather is out of the picture, who will Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent be? Two names are being floated right now to take Mayweather’s place in the Pacquiao calendar for the first half of 2012 – unbeaten junior-welterweight world champion Timothy Bradley or a fourth bout against Juan Manuel Marquez.
