The case is called ‘Operation Red Coalition’. According to the report, ‘Operation Red Coalition’ started Arbabsiar when sought help from the Mexican cartel to kill the Saudi ambassador. Unknowingly, he contacted a US informant. Arbabsiar allegedly wired $100,000 to the informant as a down payment for the $1.5 million fee.
Manssor Arbabsiar was finally arrested at JFK airport late last month. Federal agents claim Arbabsiar works for the Iranian Revolutionary Guard. The other suspect, Golam Shakuri, remains at large. He allegedly works for Iran’s Qods Force, which is a special operations unit of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Upon questioning, Arbabsiar reportedly admitted to the plot. Further, he told Federal agents that he was recruited, funded and directed by men he understood to be senior officials in Iran’s Qods Force.
