The day ended badly for Novak Djokjovic yesterday. A French Open scheduling mis cue left him and Del Potro playing in an outside court. What’s worse, after winning a set each, the match had to be continued to day for lack of proper lighting on the court. This meant that Djokovic would be playing for three consecutive days at the French Open 2011, quite disadvantageous for the hottest player on tour bidding to stop Rafael Nadal in the French Open this year and winning his first title in Roland Garros.
But not a whimper from Djokovic on his bungled schedule. Instead, he kept his focus and played with what he was dealt with. The result, a win over Del Potro and a meeting in the next round with Richard Gasquet.
Such is the focus of Novak Djokovic this season. He does not seem to dwell on anything but the game. With such admirable determination, it won’t be surprising if he really beats Rafael Nadal and becomes world number 1 this season.
