Marines ‘Nazi Flag’ Outrage as ‘SS Flag’ Used in Afghanistan PHOTO
Did the US Marines really use a Nazi flag? Were the Marines aware of horrors that the Nazi ‘SS’ flag symbolizes? Is this ‘Marines Nazi flag’ photo racially-motivated? Not so, according to military officials who have conducted an investigation into the matter when the picture first came out.
The Military Corps confirmed that one of its scout sniper teams was the Marines team in the photo, taken in September 2010 in Afghanistan. One of the flags in the photo shows the ‘SS’ symbol – two letter S in the shape of jagged lightning bolts. However, according to military officials, the ‘SS’ in the flag stood for ‘scout sniper’ and not the Nazi SS.
This is the second controversy involving Marines in 2011. Earlier in the year, a video of Marines urinating on dead Taliban bodies surfaced.
