Man Loses Foot After ‘Goodbye Philippines’ Firecracker Blast
Of the 68 already injured so far this year, seven required amputation of the limbs to save their lives. One of these is a man in Bocaue, Bulacan who lost his left foot because of a firecracker called ‘Goodbye Philippines.’ The firecracker ‘Goodbye Philippines’ is one of the strongest in the market. Sometimes also called ‘Goodbye Earth,’ it is on the list of banned firecrackers in the Philippines. Who knows, it might take on a new name this year. How about ‘Goodbye Gloria’?
The man was reportedly peeing on a vacant lot in Bocaue when the firecracker exploded. Identified as Danilo Mansueto, 21, the man was rushed to the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center in Manila for the surgery.
More accident and injuries involving firecrackers are expected in the coming days. All government hospitals in Manila are now on white alert due to the situation. This alert level will rise as the new year approaches.
