Man Adopts Girlfriend as his Daughter to Protect Money

John Goodman, founder of the Polo Club Palm Beach, is facing a wrongful death lawsuit in connection with the death of Scott Patrick Wilson in 2010. Goodman has pleaded not guilty. Wilson was killed after Goodman allegedly ran a stop light. His blood alcohol level was later determined to be two times the legal limit.
Goodman had previously set up a trust for his two minor children, and with a newly adopted daughter, he can set up another one. If Goodman is found guilty in the civil suit, Wilson’s parents cannot touch the money in the trust.
Critics have called the adoption a grave abuse of Florida adoption laws to circumvent the result of the lawsuit. But Goodman and his lawyer said it is not about the lawsuit. It is about protecting his assets for his children’s future.
Now that his girlfriend is his daughter, can John Goodman be charged with ‘incest’? Just asking.
