Li Na played consistently against Schiavone, the defending champion. After winning the first set, 6-4, she momentarily lost focus in the second only to recover in time to set up a tie-break. And what a tie-break it was for the Chinese number 1. It was a blowout, with Li Na winning 7-0.
With this win, Li Na will move up the rankings in women’s tennis. When Monday’s new rankings are released, the new French Open champion will find herself in number 4, her highest in her career yet. This is another milestone for her, equaling the the highest ever ranking for an Asian in the world. Japanese player Kimiko Date-Krumm has also been ranked No. 4. (VIDEO CREDIT: EuroSport/YouTube)
