Many thought the previous announcement about Chord Overstreet leaving Glee after season 3 was the only graduation fans would be facing in season 3. Turns out Ryan Murphy was just starting. He revealed via The Holly Reporter interview that Lea, Cory and Chris will definitely NOT BE BACK after Glee season 3. The three major stars are graduating and there will be “no prep years or college plot lines”. The three stars “will not be back for season 4.”
“You can keep them on the show for six years and people will criticize you for not being realistic, or you can be really true to life and say when they started the show they were very clearly sophomores and they should graduate at the end of their senior year.”
This declaration jives with what he told Ryan Seacrest earlier about the plans for Glee’s stars this season. “The thing that I wanted to do and the cast wanted to do, we didn’t want to have a show where they were in high school for 8 years. We really wanted it to be true to that experience. We thought it would be really cool if we were true to the timeline.”
But how will the fans take it? How will the popularity of the show be affected as these are MAJOR stars of Glee. Although the cast will be supplemented with additions for ‘The Glee Project’, will this be enough to make up for the loss of the three, Lea and Chris especially?
It will be recalled that Chord Overstreet’s departure from the show was met with fan backlash. It was earlier announced that he would be totally out of GLEE but this was changed after fans cried out in anger. Later it was announced that Chord will be present as a guest in the series. Will the same thing happen to Lea Michele, Chris Colfer and Cory Monteith?
