Hitler Painting, ‘The Nocturnal Sea’, Up For Auction
“The family inherited the painting after WWII from a relative and decided they wanted to get rid of it. This is extremely rare and we expect a fair bit of interest,” said Darke auctioneer Jaroslav Krajnak. “We all know he was an evil monster, but he was also an aspiring artist,” he added.
According to experts, Adolf Hitler sold paintings to tourists and his subject was often night scenes. Painting was Hitler’s passion and he wanted to pursue it as a career. Had he been accepted at a prestigious arts school in Vienna, World War II may have been avoided.
Adolf Hitler was said to have repeatedly applied for acceptance to the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. However, he was rejected three times prompting a change of career. He later turned to politics.
