In a game dominated by France, England drew first blood after Jill Scott scored in the 59th minute. The French then equalized in the 88th minute via a goal from Elise Bussaglia. With no other goals scored in normal time, the penalty shootout decided who would march on to the semis.
France missed its first penalty kick via Camille Abily, but made all its remaining chances. England, on the other hand, made its first three penalty kicks only to lose after flubbing its last two, the last one by team captain Faye White. (VIDEO CREDIT: ESPN/YouTube)
