FEU Beats Adamson for UAAP 2011 Finals Slot (VIDEO), Meets Ateneo
Adamson was well-expected to reach the UAAP finals 2011 against Ateneo. After all, they had the second-best record in the league. What’s more, the Adamson Soaring Falcons are the only ones to beat the Blue Eagles this season, spoiling Ateneo’s perfect run in the UAAP. Add to this, their twice to beat advantage over the Far Eastern University (FEU) Tamaraws. However, Tamaraws had other plans. They want to avenge their loss to Ateneo in last year’s finals.
The FEU Tamaraws played like a team on a mission. Earlier this week, they Adamson in their first UAAP Final Four match up. Then, yesterday, before a full-packed Araneta Coliseum, FEU again defeated Adamson, thanks to a solid game and a first year guard in the person of Mike Tolomia who sparked the Tamaraws’ run in the second half.
“We had a chance at the second seed but we failed. But I was confident that we can beat Adamson in the Final Four as a number-three seed because we played them well in the preseason,” said FEU coach Bert Flores.
Adamson tried to mount a comeback late in the fourth quarter but it was to no avail as their main man, Alex Nuyles, was well defended again.
