Diana Nyad will be accompanied by a support group in her swim – forty five people in yachts and kayaks who, along with providing moral support, will also guide her in her journey. There will also be a team of trained shark divers who will take turns swimming nearby with electronic devices that will, hopefully, repel the sharks.
Diana Nyad hopes to complete the 103 mile distance between Cuba and the United States. In order for her record to be recognized, cannot touch a boat until she reaches land. Diana will stop and tread water every 45 minutes to rehydrate and every 90 minutes to eat.
