Confirmed earlier were Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Tyreke Evans of the Sacramento Kings, James Harden (Oklahoma City Thunder), DeAndre Jordan (LA Clippers) and Derrick Williams (Minnesota Timberwolves). Besides being tuneup of the Smart Gilas team for the 2011 FIBA Asia championships, the Smart Ultimate All Star Weekend is Manny V. Pangilinan’s (MVP) gift to Filipino basketball fans. MVP celebrated his birthday earlier this week.
Derek Fisher is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers and, like Kobe Bryant, is a five-time NBA champion. As of 2010, Fisher had played in 199 career playoff games, the fifth highest total in NBA history. He ranks second all time in NBA Finals three-point shots converted (43), behind former teammate Robert Horry. Fisher also has the highest three-point field goal percentage in NBA Finals history (42.6%).
There is one more member of the NBA All Stars team not yet confirmed for the Smart Ultimate All Star Weekend. Coach Chot Reyes teased that the last member is much, much bigger than Fisher. Is it Kevin Durant, or Derrick Rose?
