The Mavericks roared back from 15 points down in the fourth quarter to stun the Miami Heat 95-93 last night and tie the NBA Finals series at one game apiece. Seemingly out of the game when the Heat led 88-73 with just a little more than seven minutes remaining, the Mavericks roared back never willing to give up. They made basket after basket as Nowitzki and his teammates whittled the Miami lead only giving up one field goal in the process.
Tied at 93 all, it was time for Dirk Nowitzki’s heroics. As the clock ticked away, he made a layup with 3.6 seconds left quieting down the crowd. A last ditch attempt by Dwayne Wade in the ensuing play never made it to the basket as Dallas made it 1-1 in the series.
What injured finger? That was what Nowitzki was seemingly saying in Game 2. Nowitzki was hurt in Game 1 when he slapped at the ball trying to make a steal from Chris Bosh. He reportedly fiddled with various braces and splints before Game 2 before settling on a small one that allowed him to keep a good feel of the ball. It was a good choice as Nowitzki was at the forefront of the Mavericks comeback in the final quarter. (VIDEO CREDIT: NBA.com/YouTube)
