Argentina Boxing Fans Riot as Local Boxer Loses (VIDEO)
This scene gives new meaning to unsportsmanlike behavior. A riot broke out in Argentina after a local boxer was beaten by his Filipino foe. Local boy Luis Alberto Lazarte went down in defeat to Filipino Johnriel Casimero in the IBF lightweight division after the Argentinian was knocked down twice in the ninth round and again in the tenth. The decision was about to be announced when the fans started rioting.
The Filipino fighter and his team were caught off guard in the middle of the ring as fans threw plastic bottles and chairs at them from every direction. It was raining debris inside the ring. Some Argentinian fans, seemingly unsatisfied with pelting the Filipino fighter with chairs, even went into the ring to attack Casimero and his team.
And where was security? Reports said they were helpless against the rioters but, as this video shows, the security officers were not doing enough.
Casimero and his trainers were injured in the riot, with the Filipino boxer suffering cuts on his head after being hit with a chair. The referee was injured as well and was treated in hospital. The IBF is reportedly investigating the incident. (VIDEO CREDIT: YouTube)
